Queens of the Stone Age/Nine Inch Nails

March 18, 2014

The other week I went to see the Queens of the Stone Age and Nine Inch Nails double headline concert. My friend Richard gave me his ticket as he was unable to go. Knowing he was a massive Nine Inch Nails fan I only accepted the ticket after he insisted he had other commitments.

When I arrived I was surprised to discover that I had a general admission ticket which placed me on the floor directly in front of the stage. Despite TOOL not playing, a large number of people turned up wearing TOOL shirts; those are some dedicated fans.

Off to see @nineinchnails and @Queensofthestoneage

The opening act was local rock chick Brody Dalle. She didn't hold back delivering an explosive 20 minute set.

Queens of the Stone Age played a high energy set, which the crowd responded very well to. Even with Dave Groll no longer touring with the band the Queens of the Stone Age put on a high quality show playing a mix of new and old stuff, including If I Had A Tail which made the Triple J hottest 100 for 2013.

Finally the act I had been waiting for. After seeing Nine Inch Nails at the 2009 Soundwave festival, I knew that Nine Inch Nails front man Trent Reznor would deliver an amazing set.

Nine Inch Nails hadn't been in Australia since the 2009 Soundwave, and most of the crowd around me had been waiting since then to see the band again. In true Nine Inch Nails style there were plenty of lights.
